Geometric has announced the latest release of Edrawings, an email-enabled collaboration tool designed to ease the sharing and interpretation of 2D and 3D product design data. Edrawings Professional for NX version 7.2 includes enhancements such as: support for NX 7.5 functionalities to export bill-of-materials information from NX to Edrawings; support for measurement of assembly features, surfaces and 3D curves; and an upgrade of Edrawings viewer version to Edrawings 2010 SP3.
German multi-spindle automatic lathe manufacturer Index has introduced a six-spindle CNC machine of 40mm bar capacity to enable the production of a range of mill-turned components. The multi sits between 32- and 52mm-capacity models in the Multiline range, but the price is closer to that of the smaller machine
Hermle’s C 42 U machining centre is suited for five-axis/five-sided machining within an 800 x 800 x 550mm working envelope. It targets applications in the tool and mould, medical, aerospace and motorsport sectors, and other industries requiring complex, close-tolerance components
Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools has revealed that gears can now be manufactured on Hermle five-axis machining centres following a tie-up between the machine tool builder and software firm HPG. Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools, Hermle’s sole UK agent, has described the process, which is ideal for producing small batches of gears and even one-offs in the size range 500-1,200mm diameter
The ANS-300TTS Twin Turret Automated Shaft Lathe is suitable for machining pinion shafts, turbo charger shafts, input shafts, output shafts, axle shafts and electric-motor shafts. Featuring four-axis simultaneous operation and Fuji’s own gantry robot, it is said to achieve faster cycle times for optimal workpiece output. The rigid box-way construction of the lathe is said to ensure superior spindle output, while approximately 50 per cent of the process cycle time is reduced by high horsepower spindle and cutting thrust
Fuji Machine’s new large VTP-1000 vertical lathe is suitable for use within the gear, construction, wind power energy, aerospace and shipbuilding equipment industries. Featuring gearless spindle technology and an RS-Slide structure, the VTP-1000, which performs precise hard turning, realises contour- and profile-cutting accuracies within +/-1um on up to 40in (1m) OD gears and bearing components.
The CSD-300 parallel spindle lathe from Fuji Machine offers maximum material handling from a compact footprint, designed for the quick and accurate turning of a variety of parts. To securely handle heavy parts of 200mm diameter x 100mm and 5kg plus 5kg, the CSD-300 features a Fuji-engineered hydraulic clamping loader and 8-10in capacity work-holding chucks
Fanuc CNC America will showcase advanced CNC control developments at IMTS 2010, along with industry solutions to meet strict automotive, aerospace, medical, heavy industry and job-shop requirements. The company, which will be found in Booth S-8919, will present the new model 30i-B Series CNC Control, the 0i-D/0i-DMate Control with newly enhanced functionality, the new 35i-B CNC Control for transfer-line machines, new five-axis volumetric error compensation and various industry solutions
At IMTS 2010 Fanuc CNC will exhibit its enhanced 0i-D and 0i-D Mate CNC controls for machining applications.
EPE and Trig Engineering have acquired three new CNC turning centres to further enhance their component production capacity. A further machine will be installed in the near future at Trig Engineering. The machines are Quick Turn Nexus 250MSY turning centres, which incorporate two spindles and a fourth axis, enabling production of a component with both turning and milling to completion in only one setup
