TORONTO— Canada is cutting fewer deals than its peers in the growing economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC), according to a new report by PwC . Since January 2000, Canadian companies made just 188 acquisitions in the BRIC nations, well below the the US (1,504) and the UK (408). Bombadier lands another plane order

PARIS: Bombardier Aerospace has signed a firm order for another 10 of its CS100 jetliners. The Montreal-based company says the buyer is a first-time European customer, who wishes to remain unidentified. Based on the list price of the CS100, Bombardier says the order is valued at approximately $628 million US.

SEOUL —Samsung will release the results of an independent health and safety probe into conditions at its South Korean semiconductor factories after employee illnesses and deaths have raised fears of cancer risks. The announcement came after a South Korean court ruled the leukemia deaths of two women were linked to working at one of the company’s semiconductor factories. The electronics-maker commissioned an investigation by occupational health and safety experts last July after more than 20 people at its chip factories were diagnosed with leukemia or lymphoma since 1998

Tetra pak sets sights on achieving new sustainability targets

Leading beverage and liquid-food packaging products manufacturer Tetra Pak has announced plants to cap its GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions at 2010 levels by the end of 2020 as pat of a newly-unveiled global strategy aimed at minimizing its environmental footprint and becoming a true “zero waste” company. In addition, the globally-operating Swiss-Swedish group is planning to double the recycling rate for its used beverage cartons by the end of this decade, while intensifying efforts to switch all of its  packaging products to renewable resources.
