US manufacturing technology orders up 92.7% in July

According to AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association, and AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, in July 2011, US manufacturing technology orders totaled US$506.97 million.This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTO program, was up by 7.3% from June and up by 92.7% when compared with the total of US$263.14 million reported for July 2010.With a year-to-date total of US$2,975.10 million, 2011 is up by 102.9% compared with 2010.On a regional basis, at US$58.38 million, July manufacturing technology orders in the northeast region were down by 17.9% compared with June but up by 11.3% year-on-year. Orders in the southern region totaled US$75.03 million, 13.4% more than June’s US$66.19 million and 191.3% more than the July 2010 total

Canada launches Atlantic Gateway strategy

OTTAWA: The government of Canada has announced the launch of the Atlantic Gateway and Trade Corridor Strategy, as well as a $2.5 million investment in marketing the strategy. Keith Ashfield, Minister of State for the Atlantic Gateway and Chuck Strahl, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, announced the Atlantic Gateway and Trade Corridor Strategy on March 23, designed to help the region unlock its potential. “The Atlantic Gateway and Trade Corridor Strategy ensures our region has the infrastructure and regulations necessary to build the robust, competitive economy Atlantic Canada needs to prosper in the 21st century,” said Ashfield
